Makayla Paige Sets School Record In The 800m

BOSTON – Makayla Paige (2:00.57) shattered the school record in the 800m by three seconds on day one of the John Thomas Terrier Classic. Carolina had four runners move up in the record book in the 800m, mile, and 5000m.
Paige passed Lizzy Whelan's 2:03.85 time from 2015. Paige moved into the collegiate top ten all-time indoors, passing Aaliyah Miller (2:00.69) from Baylor in 2021 for sixth all-time.
Along with Paige's great day on the track, Ella Auderset (2:06.16) and Cassidy Scott (2:08.22) also posted personal bests in the 800m. Auderset moved into sixth all-time, passing Brie Felnagle's 2007 time of 2:06.27.
The women continued the excellent day on the track in the mile. Brynn Brown (4:33.64) moved into second all-time in UNC history, passing her teammate Taryn Parks's personal best from last season.
Eva Klingbeil (16:13.64) closed out day one with a bang as she moved into fifth all time in the 5000m passing Morgan Ilse from 2018. Klingbeil finished second in her heat.
