
Carolina Falls To No. 9 Virginia, 4-3

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- In its first matchup against a ranked opponent in 2025, the No. 6 North Carolina Tar Heels (3-1) fell to No. 9 Virginia (4-0), 3-4 in Charlottesville.
Despite dropping its doubles match on court one, Carolina fought back to win on courts two and three and secure the doubles point. On court three, the No. 20 ranked duo of Tatum Evans and Thea Rabman evened things out with a 6-3 victory. Then, on court two, Reese Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton defeated the No. 27 ranked Virginia duo of Xu and Genis Salas to give North Carolina a 1-0 lead entering singles play.
In singles play, Carolina fell on courts one, two and four before Tatum Evans picked up a 6-3, 6-1 victory on court five to give Carolina its second point of the match. Next, one court three, Theadora Rabman battled to a straight-set victory to even the match at 3-3. Lastly, on court six, Claire Hill fell in a three-set battle to give Virginia the decisive fourth point.
