Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Saturday Play

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Carolina women's tennis continued tournament play at the Kitty Harrison Invitational and Milwaukee Tennis Classic on Saturday. Overall, the Tar Heels posted 13 singles wins and seven in doubles.
Kitty Harrison Invitational
UNC got the day started with doubles. The Tar Heels swept the day picking up four doubles wins.
Carolina then headed into a round of singles matches. No. 21 Tatum Evans highlighted the day with her second ranked win of the year. She topped no. 58 Liv Hovde from Duke in straight sets. Five more Tar Heels earned a victory in singles play. No. 95 Nicole Khirin, Susanna Maltby, Avery Nguyen, and Aya Manning claimed dominant wins in straight sets against their opponents.
The Tar Heels will return to action at 9 a.m. with a round of singles matches on Sunday.

Carolina started Saturday with a pair of doubles matches. No. 14 Hamilton/Frey remain unbeaten this season as they swept the day, 2-0. Partners Rennard/Boyce also picked up a win in doubles action.
In singles, three Tar Heels went 2-0 in their matches. Alanis Hamilton, Anna Frey, and Mary Grace Rennard each recorded two wins. Hamilton's second win of the day came against a familiar face. The junior battled her own teammate, Alana Boyce, before walking away with a win decided in a third set tiebreak.
Carolina will wrap up the tournament at 9 a.m. Sunday morning in Milwaukee.
