Brantmeier Set For US Open

Former Carolina women's tennis standout Reese Brantmeier is set to begin singles play in the main draw of the US Open Tuesday afternoon. This will be the first time in Brantmeier's career that she will compete in the main draw of the tournament for singles.
Brantmeier clinched a main draw wild-card entry into the Open after winning the USTA American Collegiate Wildcard Playoff in June. She topped Katrina Scott from Tennessee to secure her bid 6-4, 7-6 (7).
On Tuesday, Brantmeier is set to face Oleksandra Oliynykova from Ukraine in round one at 3:30 p.m. Her opponent holds a WTA ranking of no. 46.
