
Carolina Sweeps JMU for Season-Opening Victory

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- In its first of two matches of the day, the No. 6 North Carolina Tar Heels (1-0) defeated James Madison (0-1), 7-0.
To begin the match, Reese Brantmeier returned to the court for the first time since her injury in February of last season. Brantmeier, along with newcomer Alanis Hamilton, quickly gave Carolina the doubles point edge with a 6-0 victory on court two. Despite losing on court one, the No. 20 tandem of Tatum Evans and Thea Rabman clinched the doubles point for Carolina.
In singles action, Freshman Claire Hill picked up her first collegiate singles win and gave Carolina its second point. Next, Thea Rabman and Carson Tanguilig won on courts two and three to give UNC its third and match-clinching fourth point.
On court five, Alanis Hamilton joined Hill as she picked up her first collegiate victory. Lastly, on court four, Tatum Evans gave the Tar Heels its seventh point after a 6-1, 6-3 win.
