
Carolina Picks Up First Round Win; Beats USC 4-1

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Despite needing to make a few changes to its singles lineup, the No. 1 ranked North Carolina women's tennis team (7-0), defeated the USC Trojans (4-2) 4-1 on Friday evening in the first round of the ITA Indoor Championships in Seattle.
To begin the evening, Fiona Crawley and Carson Tanguilig, the eleventh ranked doubles team in the country, won 6-2 on court two to give the Tar Heels the doubles advantage. Later, the top-ranked duo of Reese Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty won 6-3 to clinch the doubles point for North Carolina.
In singles play, Anika Yarlagadda led the Tar Heels to its second point after winning 6-1, 6-2 on court three. On court six, Reilly Tran fought back to win in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4 to give Carolina its third point. Finally, on court one, Fiona Crawley clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
