Tar Heels Fall In ITA Indoor Quarterfinals

SEATTLE, Wash. -- After losing one of its top players, the No. 1 ranked North Carolina women's tennis team (7-1), fell to No. 7 NC State (8-0) 4-3 on Saturday evening in the second round of the ITA Indoor Championships in Seattle.
In doubles play, Abbey Forbes and Reilly Tran quickly gave North Carolina the doubles point advantage with a 6-3 victory on court three. On court two, Anika Yarlagadda stepped up to replace Reese Brantmeier with partner Elizabeth Scotty. The duo picked up its first win of the season together and clinched the doubles point for the Tar Heels.
In singles play, Reilly Tran and Thea Rabman each battled to win in three sets to give UNC its second and third points. Anika Yarlagadda fought to force a third set tiebreak on court three but fell 6-8.
