Chapel Hill, N.C. - The Carolina volleyball team (20-7, 12-6 ACC) couldn't build off Friday's victory and ultimately fell to no.7 Stanford (23-4, 15-3 ACC) 3-0 Sunday at Carmichael Arena.

The Cardinal, who have only lost four matches all season, came out strong in the first two sets, winning 25-13 in the first and 25-10 in the second. Stanford forced 21 attacking errors in the first two sets to take the early advantage.

The Tar Heels tried to make things interesting in the third, battling their way to extra points. Safi Hampton gave Carolina its last lead of the third set, at 20-19, and Mabrey Shaffmaster tied the set at 24-24 before Stanford scored the final two points to take the match.

Carolina will close the regular season home schedule on Wednesday, Nov. 27, hosting Virginia at 2 p.m. with coverage on ACC Network Extra.

NOTABLES:

Maddy May led the Tar Heels with 12 digs.
Emani' Foster led the Tar Heels with 5 kills. Safi Hampton and Mabrey Shaffmaster both tallied 4 kills in the match.
Jackie Taylor led the way with five blocks on the defensive end.
