No. 1 Women's Tennis Takes Out No. 5 FSU, 7-0

CHAPEL HILL - North Carolina came away with a 7-0 victory over visiting Florida State on Sunday in a matchup of top-five ranked Atlantic Coast Conference women's tennis programs.
No. 1 North Carolina made it 13 wins in a row to start the season and improved to 4-0 against the ACC. In the process, the Tar Heels extended their program record winning streak to 31-straight matches, won at home for the 41st successive match and has now beaten the Seminoles in each of the last 14 head-to-head meetings.
No. 5 Florida State (9-3, 4-2 ACC) lost its second match in as many days after falling yesterday to No. 8 Duke, 5-1.
UNC displayed one of its best doubles performances of the season. Court one's Sara Daavettila and Cameron Morra took down No. 7 Victoria Allen and Petra Hule, 6-2, and the opening point was later secured by court two's duo of Alle Sanford and Elizabeth Scotty by a 6-4 margin over Nandini Das and Andrea Garcia.
Freshman No. 120 Fiona Crawley improved to 13-0 in her rookie season with a 6-0, 6-0, victory over Hule on court five. Crawley has only dropped one set all spring in singles play.
No. 6 Cameron Morra defeated No. 92 Nandini Das, 6-1, 6-0, to make it 3-0 Tar Heels, and freshman Reilly Tran secured the victory on court six with a 7-5, 6-4 win. Tran is also unbeaten in her first collegiate campaign with a 7-0 singles mark.
No. 79 Elizabeth Scotty and No. 49 Makenna Jones earned straight-set wins, and No. 4 Sara Daavettila closed things out with a win over No. 27 Giulia Pairone on court one.
The win for Jones tied her for 10th in program history with former ACC Player of the Year Gina Suarez-Malagu with 106 career victories. Daavettila adds to her career win total that now stands at 137, second most in Tar Heel history.
Carolina hits the road to face Clemson and No. 13 Georgia Tech next weekend.
