#1 UNC Blanks Hokies To Secure Top Seed At ACC Championship

BLACKSBURG, Va. - No. 1 North Carolina competed its unbeaten run through the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 7-0 victory over Virginia Tech on Sunday in the regular-season finale for both clubs.
The Tar Heels will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming ACC Championship next weekend in Cary, N.C. Carolina has won the regular season crown six of the last seven seasons under the guidance of head coach Brian Kalbas, the winningest coach in ACC women's tennis history.
North Carolina (26-1) registered its 17th consecutive victory in 2019 against the unranked Hokies. The Tar Heels won the doubles point for the 27th straight match and cruised through singles play.
Junior Alexa Graham won her 100th career singles match over No. 124 Natalie Novotna on court one. She led the way to Carolina sweeping all six singles matches.
Graham joins seniors Jessie Aney and Chloe Ouellet-Pizer who previously eclipsed the 100-win mark earlier this season.
The Tar Heels will look to secure their fourth consecutive ACC Championship, and 10th overall when they begin play on Friday at 2:30 p.m. North Carolina will take on the winner of Thursday's 2:30 p.m. second-round match between No. 9 Syracuse and No. 8 Georgia Tech.
