Dray Powers Carolina Over Pitt, 11-5

Three was the lucky number for Kristina Burkhardt who went 3-for-3 at the plate, scored three runs and stole three bases. Both Berlynne Delamora and Campbell Hutcherson, in addition to Dray, had three hits. Starting pitcher Brittany Pickett struck out a season-high, 10 batters, in the complete-game victory.
The Tar Heels scored three runs in the first, third and fourth innings to down the Panthers who scored two home runs. Carolina improves to 18-12 overall, 7-3 in the ACC. Pitt falls to 4-27, 1-9 in conference. Due to the weather forecast, Saturday's game at Pitt has been moved to a noon first pitch.
Key Moments
» Both Leah Murray and Burkhardt singled and stole second in the first before Kiani Ramsey drew a walk to load the bases. Lexi Godwin gave UNC the lead on a sac-fly before Dray drove in two more on a single to left for a 3-0 edge to begin the game.
» Pittsburgh made things interesting with a two-run home run off Olivia Gray in the second.
» Godwin and Dray drew a pair of walks to begin the inning. Berlynne Delamora doubled to right-center, scoring pinch runners Shayla Thompson and Tainasha Vines. Campbell Hutcherson tacked on one more run for Carolina with an RBI-double to right-center.
» After a pair of singles and a double steal by Burkhardt and Ramsey, Dray cleared the park for her third home run of the season and a 9-2 UNC lead in the fourth.
» Morgan Batesole drove in Pitt's third run on a single to right, scoring Olivia Gray. A walk loaded the bases, but Abby Settlemyre fired across to Hutcherson for the groundout.
» A leadoff walk set up Burkhardt for her fourth triple of the season, scoring one run. Godwin slugged her second sac-fly of the day for an 11-3 lead.
» Alexee Haynes slugged Pitt's second home run, cutting Carolina's margin down to six runs. Settlemyre turned UNC's second double play of the game to end the inning.
» Pickett struck out two in the seventh for her 11th complete game of the season.

» Carolina recorded double-digit hits for the eighth time this season. Four Tar Heels had double-digit hits: Burkhardt, Dray, Delamora and Hutcherson.

» Pickett reset her single-game season high to 10 strikeouts – matching a career high set three times in 2018.
