
UNC Sweeps Day Three of Carolina Classic

CHAPEL HILL – Led by Hannah George in the circle and 18 hits at the plate, North Carolina swept day three of the Carolina Classic with wins over Florida Atlantic and Maryland. The Tar Heels topped FAU 6-2 in game one for George's first complete-game win. UNC's momentum continued with an 11-5 victory over Maryland, highlighted by Kiani Ramsey's 4-for-4 outing with her first home run of the year.

Key Moments vs. Florida Atlantic
» Leah Murray and Destiny DeBerry each logged a stolen base in the first and second innings, respectively. DeBerry and Kristina Burkhardt pulled off a double-steal in the second inning. Kiani Ramsey stole second in the third for UNC's fifth stolen base of the game.
» The Tar Heels and Owls traded hits until the fifth inning when Angela Agurkis laced a two-run single up the middle for the FAU lead.
» A leadoff walk, a FAU miscue followed by a Megan Dray single loaded the bases for Carolina in the sixth. Zoë Goodman laced an RBI-single to left to put Carolina on the board before Burkhardt knotted the game with a single. George gave UNC the lead with a two-run single to center before a pair of FAU miscues made it 6-2.

» Carolina jumped on the board with three runs in the third inning. Campbell Hutcherson singled in the second before Murray reached on an error that allowed Hutcherson to score. After Murray scored on a wild pitch, Ramsey battled through an eight-pitch at-bat before slugging her second career home run to right-center.
» With bases loaded and two outs for the second time, Ramsey laced the ball to left for an RBI-single. The Tar Heels plated two more on a Terrapins miscue. Megan Dray sent a two-run single to left-center, finalizing the inning's run total at five.
