Tar Heels Host Charlotte for Tuesday Matchup

CHAPEL HILL – Wrapping up their preseason homestand, the Tar Heels host Charlotte for a 5 p.m. matchup Tuesday afternoon at Anderson Stadium. Most recently, UNC went 2-1 in the Carolina Classic with wins over FAU and Maryland.

Fans are invited to celebrate Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday with the Tar Heels. The first 50 fans at Anderson Stadium will receive free king cake. Admission is always free to regular season softball games. Fans unable to attend Tuesday's game can watch on the ACC Network Extra or follow live stats at UNClivestats.com.

Closing the Door on Tournament Play
Despite dropping the first game of the weekend to George Washington on Thursday, North Carolina bounced back to pick up a pair of wins over Florida Atlantic and Maryland on Saturday. Freshman Hannah George was named to the Carolina Classic all-tournament team after tossing both wins on Saturday with a career-high of six strikeouts Thursday in relief. Senior Kiani Ramsey launched her second Carolina home run to center in UNC's 11-5 win over Maryland to wrap up the weekend.
» Leah Murray upped her stolen base total to 84.
» Hannah George threw her first complete game against FAU.
» The Tar Heels recorded a season-high of five stolen bases against FAU.
» The first 13 runs between UNC and Maryland were scored with two outs.

Senior Leah Murray ranks second in program history with 84 stolen bases. Murray stole three on opening day to tie Christine Knauer's mark. Tiffany Tolleson holds the record with 102. Fellow senior Destiny DeBerry ranks is tied for sixth with 70 stolen bases. In the circle, Brittany Pickett's name can be found eight times with her highest ranking of third with nine career saves. Lisa Norris holds the record at 11.
