Tossing her first career one-hitter, Brittany Pickett went the distance in the circle with eight strikeouts for her seventh complete game of the season. Kiani Ramsey lead UNC's offense with three RBI while both Kristina Burkhardt and Abby Settlemyre had two hits at the plate.

Carolina improves to 13-9 overall, 3-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. The Eagles fall to 7-12, 0-1 in the ACC.

Key Moments
» Carolina loaded the bases on a pair of walks and a single from Settlemyre. Zoë Goodman took a pitch to give the Tar Heels a 1-0 lead in the second.
» Burkhardt doubled UNC's edge with a leadoff-single before coming around to score on a stolen base and Boston College miscue. Megan Dray drove in Tainasha Vines to make it 3-0 in favor of the Tar Heels.
» Boston College responded with a solo-shot Emme Martinez in the fourth.
» Ramsey made a stand-out grab in center over her shoulder to keep the Eagles off the bases.
» The Tar Heels clinched the win with six runs in the fifth inning to enact the run-rule. Settlemyre began the inning with a single before Campbell Hutcherson brought her home on a fielders' choice. Kiersten Licea drew an RBI-walk before Ramsey cleared the bases with a three-run triple to right-center. Burkhardt's single to center plated Ramsey and clinched the 9-1 win.
