Carolina Opens Home ACC Play vs. Boston College

CHAPEL HILL – After defeating their fourth top 25 opponent, the Tar Heels host Boston College Friday through Sunday at Anderson Stadium for their first of seven consecutive home games. UNC has outscored its opponents 42-12 since returning from the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.

Due to the weather forecast, the Tar Heels will begin the series vs. Boston College at 1 p.m. Friday. Saturday and Sunday's games remain as scheduled with 1 p.m. first pitches. Limiting the highest scoring offense in the nation to one run, North Carolina downed No. 8 Georgia, 3-1, on the road in Athens, Ga. Throwing her seventh complete game of the season, Brittany Pickett shutdown the powerhouse offense to a mere four hits, striking out a season-high, nine batters.
» With the wins over No. 9 South Carolina and No. 8 Georgia, Carolina has defeated two top-10 teams in a season for the first time in program history. The win also marks UNC's fourth of the year. The last time Carolina had four or more ranked wins in the regular season was 2010.
» Berlynne Delamora inked her name in the Carolina record book with her 33rd career hit-by-pitch in the sixth inning. The senior drew her 116th career walk - five away from tying the program record.
» In her seventh complete game this season, Brittany Pickett struck out a season high of nine batters.

Taking her 33rd pitch, Berlynne Delamora is now the program record holder in HBP. The senior has also drawn 116 walks to rank second behind Taylor Wike's 122. Senior Leah Murray ranks second in program history with 88 stolen bases. Murray stole three on opening day to tie Christine Knauer's mark. Tiffany Tolleson holds the record with 102. Murray has tallied 186 hits - 15 away from the prestigious 200 hit mark. Fellow senior Destiny DeBerry ranks is tied for sixth with 70 stolen bases. In the circle, Brittany Pickett's name can be found eight times with her highest ranking of third with nine career saves. Lisa Norris holds the record at 11.

Going 4-4 in the Sunshine State, Boston College travels to North Carolina after eight days away from competition. Lexi DiEmmanele and Allyson Moore lead BC with averages over .300. The Eagles lead the ACC and rank 20th nationally in double plays per game with 0.56, totaling 24.
