
Tar Heels Top Blue Hens, 5-1

NEWARK, Del. - The North Carolina field hockey team won its second road game of the weekend Sunday, beating No. 18 Delaware 5-1 at Rullo Stadium. Senior Charlotte Craddock and freshman Gab Major each had two goals, and junior Casey Di Nardo had one goal and assisted on another. Junior Emma Bozek had two assists.
Craddock scored the gamewinner in the 15th minute, sending in a shot from the right side. Di Nardo's goal came next, five minutes before halftime, on a pass from Bozek.
Craddock also kicked off the second-half scoring, in the 42st minute, with Bozek again assisting on the play. Major scored in the 50th minute, deflecting in a ball from Di Nardo. Major's second goal, in the 54th minute, came off a rebound and made the score 5-0.
The Delaware goal came in the 60th of minute of play and was scored by Jackie Coveleski, assisted by Michaela Patzner.
Next up for the Tar Heels is the team's conference opener, on Friday against Syracuse. Carolina hosts the Orange at 5 p.m. at Francis E. Henry Stadium.
