Carolina Track Scoring High in the Classroom
While the North Carolina track and field teams have experienced success this season on the track, the teams have also achieved academically. A total of 49 track and field student-athletes earned GPAs of 3.0 or better during the spring semester.
Howard, Summers Earn Academic All-District Honors
Sarah Howard has been named to the Capital One Division I Academic All-District women's track and field/cross country team and Houston Summers was named to the men's team. Both are Tar Heel sophomores, Howard competing in shot put and Summers in javelin, and were honored for athletic and academic achievement.
Lacrosse's Creighton Named USILA Scholar All-America
Ryan Creighton, a May graduate and tri-captain in 2014, earned the academic honor after having been named third-team All-America. The USILA Scholar honor requires at least a 3.0 GPA in addition to significant athletic accolades.
Five from UNC Rowing Earn CRCA Scholar-Athlete Honors
Seniors Katie Burger, Allie Davis, Julie Peterson and Maria Santoyo were recognized, along with junior Sarah Priest, by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association. The honor requires a 3.5 GPA and a seat in one of the team's top boats. Burger, Santoyo and Priest were honored for the second time.

The UNC field hockey team is in the early part of a 10-day trip that includes playing against Dutch club teams, watching the best players on the planet (including several Tar Heels) compete in the World Cup and touring various cities in the Netherlands.
