SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Council)

• Members of SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Council) represent their teams in a monthly forum to discuss ideas and issues pertinent to the success of the UNC Athletics program. This forum provides the representatives the opportunity to offer input regarding Life Skills programs, athletic department policies, conference regulations and NCAA legislations that impact student-athletes.

• SAAC is composed of two appointed representatives from each athletic team and functions to build a better sense of community among all the athletic teams. SAAC helps to promote communication between administration, coaches and students-athletes.

• Student-athlete representatives serve on one of three internal committees:

Student-Athlete Well-Being: This mission of this committee is to ensure that all UNC student-athletes are given a safe and healthy collegiate experience, and are provided with the best environment for success. This committee will focus on the following areas: Diversity, Inclusion, Mental Health, Sportsmanship, Alcohol and Drug Awareness

Policies & Procedures: The mission of the policies and procedures committee is to generate a student-athlete voice and work together to shape intercollegiate athletics and enhance the student-athlete experience. This committee will be responsible for discussing rules, regulations, legislation and policies that affect UNC student-athletes at the team, campus (UNC), conference (ACC), and national (NCAA) level.

Marketing & Communications: The mission of the marketing and communications committee is to strengthen the bonds within the student-athlete community through programming and events, and will strive to disseminate information to the student-athlete population. This committee will enhance the relationships between the Athletics Department and all other realms within UNC. This committee assists with the RAMMY Awards, ACC SAAC Events, and other UNC Athletic and Campus events.

Two SAAC representatives along with two alternates are appointed to the Atlantic Coast Conference SAAC, which meets three times each academic year, providing feedback on issues impacting the ACC and NCAA legislation and policies affecting student-athletes.
