• Shakeel Rashad, a rising junior on the football team, recently participated in the NCAA Career in Sports Forum, held at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis, Ind. For more on the event and Rashad's selection, click here.
Here's his impression of the event:
The NCAA Career in Sports Forum was an absolutely incredible experience from the moment I got to Indianapolis to the two children I saw on baby leashes traveling back to Chapel Hill. Over the four days that I spent in Indianapolis I learned more than I could ever hope to know about the sport industry and everyone involved in it. Each day featured a few new speakers who would tell us about their jobs now and how they made it to their current position. After hearing from the speakers we would break into smaller groups to reflect on what they said and to apply it to our own career goals. To go along with the wealth of knowledge we received at the forum we were also fed exceptionally well and even got some pretty nifty business cards. (I'm assuming all of this was cleared by the NCAA, considering NCAA President Dr. Mark Emmert was in attendance). The forum was a great opportunity for me and I'm very thankful that Cricket Lane convinced me to put down the Xbox controller for the weekend so that I could get involved in something that will benefit me for years to come.
• Danielle Jansen and Katie Rechsteiner, May graduates and former members of the women's swimming and diving team, are traveling in Europe. After Germany, Switzerland and France, they're now in Italy. Read all about their travels here.
