SEATTLE, WASH. - Distance assistant coach Peter Watson took five runners to the 2010 Husky Invitational in Seattle, Wash., while the rest of the team stayed home to compete at the weekend's Gene Anderson UNC Invitational. Those runners broke into three UNC top-five records as well as earning some big personal records in the mile.
Junior Evan Watchempino earned the third-fastest time in the 5000 meters in school history at 14:21.79. This was his first attempt at this event so far this season, and he is currently ranked fifth in the ACC for his time.
Fellow junior Adam Cunningham led the men's team in the mile taking a new personal record and a NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the event with his time of 4:04.30. Cunningham's time is now fifth-best in Carolina history. Sophomore Kyle Milks earned a personal record at 4:06.99, while freshman Logan Rosenberg took the one of the best times earned by a male freshman in UNC history at 4:05.69.
Senior Lauren Holesh was the only female to compete in Seattle for the Heels. She ran 17:02.62 in the 5000 meters for her first attempt in that event in 2010.
