TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The North Carolina volleyball team ended its season on Friday with a 3-0 (30-17, 30-23, 30-17) loss at Florida State. The Tar Heels finish the season with a 15-16 overall record and a sixth-place finish in the Atlantic Coast Conference with an 11-11 record in conference play. The Tar Heels will lose the services of three seniors from this year's squad but will return a lot of youth in 2008.

Florida State opened the match on a 7-2 run and never looked back in picking up the opening game win. Following a 4-0 run, the Tar Heels pulled within four points of the lead at 19-15. The Seminoles would answer with a run of their own with a 11-2 finish to game one for the win.
The Tar Heels opened game two on a better note as they took a 13-8 lead in the early going, but an 8-3 run tied the score at 16-16. The tie would be the last of the game as the host Seminoles would score six straight points to take a 22-16 lead and hold on to the advantage the rest of the way for the 30-23 win. The Tar Heels were able to get into positive numbers with a .156 hitting percentage but still trailed the Seminoles who hit .237 to take the 2-0 lead.
Looking to avoid their third straight sweep the Tar Heels entered game three on a mission to pull within a game of FSU. The teams split the opening 10 points before Florida State posted another big run to control the game and the match. The Seminoles went on an 11-2 run to garner a 17-10 lead and would not let the Tar Heels any closer as they posted their second 30-17 win of the day for the 3-0 sweep.
Heather Brooks and Megan Owens led the way with seven and six kills, respectively for the Tar Heels. Carolina hit just .045 in the defeat compared to Florida State's .306 mark. The Tar Heels finish the season at 15-16 overall and 11-11 in the ACC with the loss.
