DALLAS—SMU men's tennis, ranked 47th in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, won the doubles point and came from behind by winning the last two singles matches, besting No. 57 North Carolina, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex.

The Tar Heels fell to 9-5 overall this season, including 2-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Mustangs improved to 11-6, 3-1.

The Tar Heels will play on the road again next weekend with ACC matches at Virginia Tech on Friday and at Virginia on Sunday.

How it Happened — Doubles
• Roan Jones and Anthony Wright picked up a win at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, over Alex Finkelstein and Krish Arora, 6-2.
• SMU followed with wins by Trevor Svajda and Jerry Barton at No. 2 over Chris Xu and Nick Mangiapane (6-3) and Georgia Georgiev and Vikas Deo (6-3) at No. 3 to clinch the doubles point

How it Happened — Singles
• Jones, ranked #52 in the ITA singles rankings, picked up another ranked win with his 6-2, 6-4 victory over #107 Finkelstein at No. 2 to tie the team score at 1-1.
• Ranked #2 nationally in singles, Svajda topped Xu at No. 1, 6-2, 6-4 to make the score 2-1 in the Mustangs' favor.
• Kase Schinnerer and Wright won back-to-back matches at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, to give the Tar Heels a 3-2 lead with two singles matches remaining.
• Barton tied things at 3-all with a three-set win over Constantinos Djakouris (6-2, 3-6, 6-2) at No. 4).
• Georgiev won the clincher at No. 3 over Ian Mayew in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 6-2.
