Tar Heels Hold Last Spring Scrimmage

Chapel Hill, NC--Â Â The North Carolina Tar Heels concluded their pre-season schedule with a ten-inning scrimmage on Monday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium. The Heels had not scrimmaged on Saturday or Sunday due to extreme cold and winds.
Offensive Highlights:Â Colin Hynek, who homered to left, was 3-5 with two RBI and one run scored. Gavin Gallaher was 2-4 with one RBI and one run scored. Gallaher lined a homer down the right-field line.
Cooper Nicholson and Erik Paulsen each homered to right-center. Owen Hull, who tripled to right-center, was 2-4 with one run scored. Lee Sowers was 2-6 and Sawyer Black was 2-6.
Pitching Highlights:Â A whopping 15 pitchers saw action on Monday with most of them tossing about one inning apiece. The following pitchers saw action: Kyle Percival, Jackson Rose, Riley Leatherman, Matthew Matthijs, Talan Holiday, Tom Chmielewski, Walker McDuffie, Cam Padgett, Amos Rich, Boston Flannery, Camron Seagraves, Tim Lawson, Jake Cackovic, Andrew Wallen and Justin Mabe.
Defensive Highlight:Â Cooper Nicholson made an amazing diving, back-handed grab of a line shot to third.
The Tar Heels will open the 2026 season on Friday at 4:00 pm as they play host to Indiana at Boshamer Stadium.
