Knight Earns Runner-Up On Platform, Swimming Gets Underway At ACC Championships

ATLANTA, Ga. – University of North Carolina diver Sofia Knight podiumed for the second-straight day, Ciro Mejia earned fourth on the platform, and swimming got underway at the ACC Championships on Tuesday. Knight claimed her third career top-three finish at the league meet by finishing as the runner-up on the platform.

Knight finished off a stellar ACC Championships that saw her finish third on the 1-meter, sixth on the 3-meter and then the second-place finish on platform. Her three performances were worth 79 points total to the team score.

Mejia, who recently set the school record on the platform, performed admirably in his first ACC Championship. He scored a 364.40 to just narrowly miss the podium.

The swimming portion of the program started this evening as well and the women's 200 medley relay produced. The team of Sophia Frei, Samantha Armand, Kamryn Meskill and Eden Goettsch posted a 1:35.99 to finish seventh. Their time was good enough to secure an automatic NCAA qualifier.

The men's 800 free relay of Louis Dramm, David Quaresma, Sebastian Lunak and Julian Swiderski placed 11th, but their time of 6:15.81 earned a provisional NCAA qualifier.

The swimmers will be back in action on Wednesday with prelims getting underway at 9:30 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m.
