Knight Earns Podium In 1M At ACC Champoinships

ATLANTA, Ga. -- University of North Carolina diver Sofia Knight earned her second career podium at the ACC Championships where she finished third in the 1-meter springboard on Monday evening. Knight, who finished sixth in the 3-meter yesterday, scored a 300.25 to earn bronze and claim All-ACC honors, while adding 27 points to the UNC team total.Â
The men competed on the 3-meter today with Chris Booler narrowly missing the finals. Booler finished ninth on the day and just 3.3 points out of eighth. His ninth place finish was worth 20 points to the team total. Carter Loftin claimed 11th in the event and scored 16 points for the Heels. Rodolfo Vazquez finished in 16th place and scored 11 points for the Heels. Ciro Mejia took 23rd and added another two points to the team total.
The Tar Heel divers will be back in action on Tuesday with both genders on the platform. Prelims get underway at 10:30 a.m. with finals scheduled for 5:50 p.m. The swimming portion of the ACC Championships gets underway on Tuesday as well with a finals only session starting at 5:30 p.m.
