CHRISTIANSBURG, VA. – The University of North Carolina swimming and diving teams swept Virginia Tech in dual meets on Thursday at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. The 19th-ranked men's team defeated the No. 12 Hokies, 160-140, while the 15th-ranked women took down the 23rd-ranked VT women, 177-123.

Ben Delmar and Martin Kartavi posted standout performances for the men's swimming side. Delmar claimed victories in the 100 and 200 breast, the 200 IM and helped the 200 medley relay to a first-place finish. Kartavi won the 50 free and helped both the 200 medley and the 200 free relay to wins. Seb Lunak and PJ Foy also added event wins in the 200 fly and 100 fly, respectively.

Sophia Frei and Mary Macaulay led the women's swimmers, claiming two individual event wins. Frei posted victories in the 100 and 200 back, while also leading off the victorious 200 medley relay. Macaulay earned event wins in the 100 fly and the 200 IM. Lily Sawyer posted a personal best in the 100 free to win the event. Taylor Bloom took the top spot in the 200 fly, while Lexie Ward claimed the 1000 free.

The divers had a big night highlighted by Ciro Mejia's school record on the platform. Mejia already held the school record but posted a 429.90 to smash his own record. Christopher Booler and Juliet Radich each moved to No. 5 all-time at UNC on platform. Sofia Knight won the platform event and moved to No. 6 all-time at UNC at 1-meter, while Rodolfo Vazquez Montano jumped to fourth all-time at UNC in the event.

Next up, the group will head to Knoxville for the Tennessee Invitational Nov. 17-20.
