January 31, 2026 | Women's Tennis
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 3 University of North Carolina women's tennis will welcome the defending National Champions, no. 1 Georgia, to Chewning Tennis Center Sunday at 1 p.m.
Carolina opened the weekend with a win over no. 9 NC State and will look to carry that momentum over into Sunday. Reese Brantmeier headlined the win for the Tar Heels after clinching the match for the team in singles play.
The Tar Heels will meet familiar competition in the Bulldogs after going 6-1 against Georgia over the past five seasons.
Most recently, the teams clashed twice last season where they split the meetings 1-1. UNC topped Georgia on the road early in the 2025 season, 4-3. The Tar Heels and Bulldogs later met again in the NCAA Championship Semifinals in Waco, Texas. Georgia went on to down Carolina 4-0 en route to winning the National Championship.
Sunday's match will feature talented lineups on both sides as Carolina currently has five players nationally ranked while Georgia has six.
