
Southerland, Women's Golf 3rd In Mason Rudolph Championship

North Carolina junior Reagen Southerland's best collegiate finish led the Tar Heels to third place in the Mason Ruldoph Championship Sunday at Vanderbilt's Legends South Course.
Southerland shot 65-71-71 for a career best 5-under 208. The Atlanta native's third-place finish is her highest as a Tar Heel.
Vanderbilt rallied to win its home tournament at 15-under 837, two strokes better than 18- and 36-hole leader Mississippi State. The Tar Heels placed third at 6-over 868. Arizona State was fourth at 860 and Baylor was fifth at 863.
Mississippi State's Sam Whateley was medalist at 9-under 204. She beat Vanderbilt's Ava Merrill by three strokes and Southerland by four.
Carolina's Helen Yeung (72-69-74) tied for 16th at 2-over 216, Ing Iadpluem (70-76-72) tied for 27th at 5-over 218, Inez Ng (73-73-73) tied for 30th at 6-over 219 and Megan Streicher (73-74-75) tied for 41st at 9-over 222.
Freshman Grace Ridenour (71-72-74), competing as an individual entry, tied for 24th at 4-over 217 in her first college tournament.
The Tar Heels return to competition October 17-19, when they host the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel invitational at Finley Golf Course.
