Women's Golf Hosts Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational At Finley (Fri-Sun)
October 16, 2025 | Women's Golf
UNC women's golf hosts the annual Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational at Finley Golf Club this weekend, with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday for the final 18 holes.
Carolina is one of 15 teams in the field, which includes Auburn, Duke, FIU, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, NC State, UNCW, Purdue, Rollins, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
Admission and parking for all three days are free. Parking and a shuttle to and from the clubhouse are available at the Finley Field Lots on Old Mason Farm Road/Finley Golf Course Road.
The Tar Heels are ranked No. 16 in the nation in the WGCA Mizuno poll and 21st in the NCAA's Scoreboard/Clippd poll. Carolina is one of six top-25 teams (NCAA poll) in the field this week, joining No. 1 Wake Forest, No. 7 South Carolina, No. 16 Auburn, No. 17 Duke and No. 20 Kentucky.
Eight of UNC's nine players will compete. The starters include Reagan Southerland, Helen Yeung, Ing Iadpluem, Marie Prats-Rigual and Katie Vu. Inez Ng, Ellen Yu and Grace Ridenour will compete as individuals, while senior Megan Streicher is unavailable due to playing in an LPGA qualifier.
The Tar Heels are playing in their third tournament of the fall semester. They placed fourth in the Folds of Honor Collegiate in Grand Haven, Mich., and third in the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn.
Southerland, a junior from Atlanta, shot a career-best 66 in the opening round at Vanderbilt, which led to a third-place finish, her best as a Tar Heel, at 5-under-par 208.
Duke is the tournament's defending champion, as the Blue Devils won the tournament a year ago when it was held at Finley for the first time following the course's extensive renovations led by Hall of Famer and UNC alum Davis Love III.
The Blue Devils shot 16-over 856 to win the title by three strokes over Wake Forest and Michigan State. Duke's Andie Smith won the individual title by five shots with rounds of 68-66-69 for a 7-under 203.
Smith headlines a field that includes three top-10 and six top-15 ranked individuals. She is also one of eight players in the field who finished in the top 15 in last year's tournament. That includes Carolina's Yeung, who tied for 11th.
