
2025 XC Campaign Opens In Concord On Friday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Cross country opens the season on the hunt to post its fifth straight win by both genders at the Charlotte Opener at Frank Liske Park in Concord, N.C. on Friday, August 29.Â
The men's 5k will start at 9:30 a.m. EST, and the women's 5k will begin at 10:00 a.m. EST. There will be no live results.
Last Time Out:
The Tar Heels are coming off a 2024 season that featured sustained team and individual success. The men's team secured a strong sixth-place finish, marking its third consecutive top-10 finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. The women's squad delivered an impressive 11th-place finish. The team brought home four All-America honors, and Parker Wolfe made history as the first male Tar Heel to earn four career All-America honors.

The women's team opened the season as the No. 13 team in the country, while the men opened at No. 18 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association preseason poll. Both squads have opened the season ranked every year since 2022. Both genders were picked to finish in the top four of the Atlantic Coast Conference preseason poll; the men were tied with Notre Dame at four, and the women sat alone at 4.
