Women's Soccer Defeats Rice At Home, 4-0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina women's soccer (2-2, 0-0 ACC) defeated Rice (2-1, 0-0 American), 4-0, at Dorrance Field Sunday afternoon. The Tar Heels scored two goals in each half to take down the Owls.
Olivia Thomas got the scoring started for Carolina with a rocket from the top of the 18-yard box in the 10th minute.
Thomas was involved again in the 37th minute when she tried to cross a ball to Kate Faasse. The pass from Thomas deflected off a Rice defender and found the back of the net to double the Tar Heels' advantage.
Carolina got back on the scoreboard in the 64th minute. Faasse took a long shot which was initially saved by the Owls' goalkeeper, but Linda Ullmark was there to clean up the rebound and slot home the third UNC goal of the day.
Eres Freifeld rounded out the scoring in the 75th minute. Faasse played a cross to the middle of the 18-yard box which found Freifeld's foot after being redirected by the Rice goalkeeper.
