Men’s Soccer Takes Down Seattle, 2-1

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina men's soccer program defeated Seattle 2-1 on Sunday night in the first ever meeting between the two schools. For the second time this season, the Tar Heels fell behind 1-0 before rallying to win.
The Tar Heels improved to (2-0-0, 0-0-0 ACC), while the Redhawks moved to 0-2-0 (0-0-0 WCC).

How It Happened
- Carolina had a fantastic chance in the first minute of the match with Andrew Czech breaking free from the Seattle defense, but he was unable to score.
- Seattle opened the scoring on a goal by Edgar Leon in the 23rd minute.
- The Tar Heels ratcheted up their intensity after falling behind 1-0. Nacho Abeal created a scoring chance and was taken down in the penalty box and the Heels were awarded a penalty kick. Abeal converted the penalty kick to tie the game.
- The match remained tied at 1-1 entering halftime.
- Carolina continued its relentless pressure in the second half and found the go-ahead goal in the 65th minute when Gabriel Bracken Serra tapped a deflected ball into the back of the net.
- The Tar Heel defense held strong after taking the lead to secure the 2-1 victory.

- Six Tar Heels outfield players (Dylan Kropp, Immanuel Mathe, Nacho Abeal, Luca Nikolai, Callum Frogson, and Jack Sandmeyer) played the full 90 minutes.
