Baseball Falls To Oklahoma, Forcing Winner-Take-All Regional Final Monday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 5 national seed North Carolina fell 9-5 to Oklahoma in game six of the Chapel Hill Regional on Sunday night, forcing the if-necessary game seven on Monday afternoon.Â
The Tar Heels (44-13, 18-11 ACC) could not quite muster enough firepower late to overcome the Sooners consistent offensive output. Untimely mistakes cost Carolina, who only allowed four earned runs on the evening.Â
Standout third baseman Gavin Gallaher remains on fire throughout the weekend, firing off a home run and two doubles to power Carolina's offense. The sophomore is batting .750 with nine hits, five for extra bases, and six RBIs.Â
On the mound, Aidan Haugh carried a majority of the load with 3.2Â innings pitched with six strikeouts. Cale Bolton finished the final 2.0 innings only allowing two hits.Â
The Tar Heels and Sooners square off for a take-all regional final on Monday from Boshamer Stadium with the advancing team to challenge the winner of the Eugene Regional. Time for tomorrow's game is to be determined.
