OAK RIDGE, TENN. – The 20th-ranked University of North Carolina rowing program finished off two days of competition at the Rocky Top Invite on Saturday. Both the V8 and 1V4 won their finals races, while the 2V4 and 3V8 competed in the A finals on the day. The Tar Heels finished fourth as a team behind fellow ranked opponents Tennessee, UCF and Duke.

"This was not our best work this weekend," said head coach Erin Neppel. "We were pretty off-balance and not mentally ready for Friday's heats, which set us up for a very difficult Saturday having to dig out of a hole. I think we rallied and did a much better job racing in the finals, but we need to handle our schedule better next time and show up ready to perform no matter what. Painful lesson, but those are the ones that stick the best. The athletes know what they want to do and who they are, and we are excited to get back to it Monday morning."

After a congested early racing schedule, the Heels will have a couple of weeks to get ready for the Lake Wheeler Invitational in Raleigh April 25-26.
