Rowing Elevates Shayla Lamb To Associate Head Coach
November 26, 2025 | Women's Rowing
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Carolina rowing continues to grow and raise the bar of the program, as head coach Erin Neppel announced the elevation of Shayla Lamb to associate head coach.
"This program continues to grow each year," said Lamb. "I feel very lucky both to be a part of that growth and that such a great group of women have chosen to make their mark on Carolina Rowing. "
Lamb enters her fourth season at Carolina, where she also has boasted experience as the recruiting coordinator. In her time with the Tar Heels, she's helped lead the program onto the national stage as Carolina remained consistently ranked this past season and reached as high as No. 19 in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Poll.
With her assistance, Carolina finished sixth at the 2025 ACC Championships and advanced three of five boats to the Grand Finals.
"We have been on an exciting trajectory the last few years and have made a lot of progress building the program," said Neppel. "Shayla has played a big part and has also been instrumental in bringing in the right folks to do this here. She has earned every bit of this title, and we're pumped to continue growing Carolina Rowing and seeing where this team takes it."
Lamb came to Carolina following a stint as an assistant coach for the men's rowing team at Jacksonville University. An accomplished rower herself, Lamb helped Michigan finish third at the NCAA Championships as both as sophomore and a senior. At the 2019 Big Ten Rowing Championship, Lamb captained the Wolverines to a title. With experience on the international circuit, she competed at the Junior World Championships in 2014 and stroked the U.S. 8+ to a bronze medal in 2015.
Lamb graduated from Michigan in 2019 with a degree in sports management and earned her MBA from Jacksonville.
The Tar Heels hit the water for the start of the 2026 season in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, for the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite from March 14-15.
