April 17, 2025 | Women's Tennis
Defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion North Carolina will begin its pursuit of back-to-back titles on Friday in the 2025 ACC Championship quarterfinals at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
Last year, the Tar Heels dominated Duke, NC State and Virginia by a combined score of 12-1 at the 2024 ACC Championship, winning their first conference title since 2021.
This season, Carolina (20-4, 11-1 ACC) enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed riding a five-match winning streak. UNC will face either No. 10 seed Miami or No. 7 seed Stanford on Friday at 12:30 p.m. The Tar Heels earned a double bye to the quarterfinals by finishing second in the regular season standings.
In Wednesday's second round in Cary, Miami beat 15th-seeded Virginia Tech, 4-2, to advance to Thursday's third-round matchup with Stanford.
After dropping a 4-2 decision to Duke on March 26, the Tar Heels closed the regular season with five consecutive conference wins over Stanford and Cal on the road and Miami and Florida State at home.
