Women’s Tennis Runs Past Miami, 4-0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—The sixth-ranked North Carolina women's tennis team swept Miami 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Chewning Tennis Center.
"It felt good to get the win today, especially coming off of last weekend," said senior Carson Tanguilig. "I think it's cool to see and get out and play in front of everyone in family and alumni and feels good going into tomorrow.
With the win, the Tar Heels improved to 19-4 overall and 10-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference this season. Carolina has won 12 of its last 13 matches since the start of outdoor play this spring.
Carolina won the doubles point for the 21st time in 23 matches this season to take a 1-0 lead. The duo of Tanguilig and Susanna Maltby cruised to a 6-0 victory in doubles, followed by Reese Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton clinching the doubles point with a 6-2 win.
On No. 4, Hamilton earned the Tar Heels' first point in singles of the day, running away with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Aely Arai of Miami. Tanguilig followed quicky behind with another point for Carolina, coming on No. 5 at 6-4, 6-1. Clinching the match and Carolina's seventh sweep of the season in ACC action, Claire Hamilton rattled off two straight set wins at 6-4, 6-2 to sweep the Hurricanes.

• The Tar Heels will host Florida State on Sunday at noon for Senior Day before the ACC Championship begins next week in Cary, N.C.
