Rowing Enters Top 25, Earns ACC Crew Of The Week

Chapel Hill, N.C. – The University of North Carolina rowing program used a strong opening-weekend performance to enter the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Top 25 at No. 21, the organization announced on Tuesday. In addition, the V8 claimed ACC Crew of the Week honors after winning two races at the Cardinal Invitational last weekend.

The Tar Heels collectively won nine races over the two-day regatta, including a 6-0 day versus Navy and three additional wins over Alabama and Louisville. The V8, 1V4 and 2V4 each posted two victories, while the 2V8 and 3V8 each claimed race wins over Navy.

The V8 of coxswain Alix de Saint-Aignan, Carmen Sagues, Chloe Gaither, Lindsey Troftgruben, Ella Gusick, Kate Hendershott, Sydney Hebert, Kate MacBryde and Sydney Tuck earned the ACC Crew of the Week for their performances. The crew posted a 6:29.830 to defeat Navy on Saturday and improved to 6:22.408 on Sunday to better Alabama and Louisville.
