Tar Heels Fall In ITA Quarterfinals, 4-3

EVANSTON, Ill. -- In the quarterfinals of the 2025 ITA National Team Indoor Championship, the No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels (7-2) fell to No. 5 Virginia (7-1), 3-4 in Evanston.
Sophomore's Theadora Rabman and Tatum Evans gave Carolina the doubles point edge with a decisive 6-2 victory on court three. Then, on court two, Carson Tanguilig and Susanna Maltby clinched the doubles point for the Tar Heels with a 6-3 win.
Reese Brantmeier gave North Carolina its second point of the day after she redeemed her loss to Annabelle Xu earlier this month with a straight-set victory on court one. Then, on court five, Tatum Evans picked up a 6-3, 7-5 win to collect the Tar Heels' third point of the match.
North Carolina fell on courts three, four and six to force a winner-take-all scenario on court two. On court two, Theadora Rabman first forced a third set before she ultimately fell in a third-set tiebreaker.
Both matches this season against Virginia have been top-10 matchups and have come down to a third set to decide the final point.
