Women’s Lacrosse Travels To Louisville For Friday Matinee

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Riding a four-game win streak and coming off back-to-back top-5 victories, No. 2 North Carolina women's lacrosse travels to the Bluegrass State to take on Louisville on Friday, Feb. 28, for another Atlantic Coast Conference matchup.
Playing at UofL Lacrosse Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky, first draw is set for noon ET on ACCNX with Tyler Bright and Patty Norton on call.

- This is the 12th meeting between North Carolina and Louisville in program history, and the sixth in Kentucky. UNC remains unbeaten at 11-0 in the all-time series.
- Carolina is coming off back-to-back top-5 wins: 14-9 at No. 5 Florida in Gainesville on Feb. 15 and 16-8 vs. No. 4 Syracuse in Chapel Hill on Feb. 22.
- Through four games, UNC has outscored its opponents 67-20 while out-shooting them 152-78. UNC's 51 shots vs. Syracuse was one shy of the program record for single-game shots of 52 from 1997 vs. Lehigh.
- UNC ranks third in the NCAA (first in the ACC) in scoring defense with 5.0 goals allowed/game. UNC is also second in the NCAA (first in the ACC) with 9.75 assists/game.
- Together, Ashley and Chloe Humphrey have combined for 23 goals, 15 assists and 38 points. That's 35.8%, 34.3% and 38.5% of UNC's total offensive production, respectively.
- Betty Nelson had a career-high nine saves vs. Syracuse. Her .568 save percentage ranks first in the ACC and seventh in the NCAA. Her 5.43 goals-against average is first in the ACC and third in the NCAA.
- Ashley Humphrey is two assists away from becoming the 15th Tar Heel in program history to record 50+ career assists while at UNC. Friday will mark Humphrey's 19th game in Carolina Blue. She is 15 assists away from cracking into the top 10.
- The Tar Heels are ranked No. 2 in every poll this week for the second week in a row. They were picked second in the ACC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Kaleigh Harden, Brooklyn Walker-Welch and Marissa White were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team.
- Louisville head coach Scott Teeter was the former head coach of Canada's Senior Women's National Team, and UNC r-junior Brooklyn Walker-Welch played internationally under him. They won gold together at The World Games in July 2022, going undefeated for the first gold medal in Canada's senior WNT history. They also earned silver together at the World Championship earlier that summer.
- Scott Teeter and Jenny Levy, former U.S. National Team head coach, went head-to-head in the World Championships in July 2022, with Team USA edging Team Canada, 11-8 for gold. UNC assistant coach Marie McCool (USA) was on the All-World Team.
