Women's Tennis Blanks Syracuse, 4-0

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- In its first match of Atlantic Coast Conference play, the No. 3 North Carolina Tar Heels (8-3) defeated the No. 32 Syracuse Orange (7-1), 4-0 in Syracuse.
North Carolina began the day quickly securing the doubles point.
On court two, the third-ranked duo of Carson Tanguilig and Susanna Maltby gave the Tar Heels the doubles point advantage with a 6-3 victory. Then, on court one, Reese Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton clinched the doubles point for Carolina with a 6-2 win.
The momentum continued for Carolina in singles play with three straight-set victories.
First, on court one, Reese Brantmeier extended North Carolina's lead with a 6-1, 6-3 victory. Next, on court six, freshman Alana Boyce gave UNC its third point after she picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win. Finally, on court three, Carson Tanguilig clinched the match for North Carolina with her own 6-3, 6-3 win.
