UNC Head Coach Hubert Davis
On Caleb Wilson…
"He's a kid that is really hungry to learn. He's not somebody that thinks he's got it all or knows everything. He's always asking questions."
On finding out Luka [Bogavac] was playing…
"We just found out right before the game, and just to see the smile and the reaction from Luka was something that I'll remember for the rest of my life."
On the team's potential…
"The only thing that we talk about is reaching our full potential. Obviously, we're nowhere near that. I think we can be a really good defensive team. I think we can be a really good rebounding team. I think from an offensive standpoint, our ability to be able to score near the basket, but also be able to shoot the ball from the perimeter is something that I'm excited about."
Caleb Wilson
On finding out Luka [Bogavac] was playing…
"We came in from the first portion of our shootaround, and Luka's dressed, and we're going crazy because we didn't know what happened. But we were grateful to have Luka out there — we can't wait to see him play this year. And he's a great player, so I'm excited to play with him."
"I was excited. We came back from shootaround at, I think, the 40-minute mark, and he was dressed. He told us he had just found out he was clear, like five minutes ago, So, we're all excited, jumping up — excited for him. You know, he was kind of sad before the game, because he didn't think he was gonna be able to play. But to see him smile and be happy was actually a nice sight to see."
On if this game gave them confidence that they can be as good as they think they can be…
"We put in the work, so that's all that matters… Your opponent never matters — it doesn't matter who you're playing against, it's how you execute and how you play. So, it doesn't really matter as long as we executed and did what our game plan was. That's what gives us the confidence to play at the best level."
On preparing for Kansas and what those kinds of games can do for his resume…
"I don't really care about people's opinions. I'm coming in there to dominate and show that I'm the best player in the country… Everybody has an opinion. So I'm gonna go out there and play as hard as I can and do everything I can do to be the best player I can be. And whatever the outcome is is what the outcome is — but I feel like it will be a good outcome because I know I'm a great player."

On constant ball movement throughout the game...
"Coach Davis always preaches getting points in the paint through post metrics or drives, bunch of rebounds, but just seeing that Kyan as well and a bigger role was kind of seeing it over the top. He knows that I like it better there than a bounce pass, because there might be other hands a little slower."
"During an offense, you're trying to build advantages and maybe hitting one good screen, you get 0.2 seconds off it, then somebody makes a good pass, it's not a zero point. So you're trying to up a second or second and a half to get an open shot, easy to long close out that you can drive and really use. So having the ball not stick is really good, because every time it sticks, you empty it out again, and then you have to start from zero."
On Kyan [Evans] and his performance tonight…
"He was really good tonight — just the control. And he played at his own pace, kind of control all the teammates, just him being able to handle the ball the way he does in early situations… just passing the ball, moving the ball as a team, it gives so much of us. He doesn't get the credit for it because it's not his assist, but just the passes he gives were really impressive."
On Caleb [Wilson]'s playmaking decision tonight…
"He's a freak athlete. We all know that seeing the way he runs the floor and the way he sees the open spaces, and we have really good passion, we're able to find him. He got monster dunks; he's really just been proud of himself. Just seeing the way he played today kind of gives a spark with all the highlights. He may be having a dual moment, and that fires all of us up."
Kyan Evans
On his big night as point guard…
"I think tonight was just a good game for me. There will be a lot of tests throughout the year, but, you know, I want to keep that up."
On the team's chemistry…
"It's been fun [taking over the offense]. As a point guard, I can just throw it up and let them make a play a lot of the times. And then, like hockey assists, I can throw it to one guy and I got faith in him, he'll make the right play."
On Seth and Caleb's double dunk attempt…
"I mean, I just was just thinking one of them was gonna catch it. Just kind of stayed back. But it was both. They were neck and neck."
On Luka getting cleared…
"It was impressive, just to see, I mean, he wasn't mentally preparing for this all day long. He didn't know if he was playing or not. So to just learn last minute like that and come out and perform. It's impressive."
Seth Trimble
On sharing the ball…
"I mean, we had 23 assists tonight and to have 23 assists, first game of the year, just shows how unselfish guys are. You know, there's not any personal agendas on the team, and we're just playing the hot hand."
On Friday night's game against Kansas…
"I expect our fans to show out — full electricity. We need some volume. That's gonna be a fun one."
On guarding Darryn Peterson on Friday…
"I think that will be really good for me — I need that. I feel like the last three games I've been a little slow to start offensively and defensively. Y'all know who I can be and I know who I can be."
On being a leader for this year's team…
"I love it. Just being able to be here for guys, being able to support guys. But you know, these guys really put their trust in me. They listen to me…I got their trust, I got their support, and they all know that they got mine."
