FORT WORTH, Texas – University of North Carolina women's soccer (13-6, 6-4 ACC) is set to face sixth seeded Texas Tech (14-2-4, 7-1-3 Big 12) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Friday evening. The Tar Heels and Red Raiders will kick off at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

The Matchup

The Tar Heels and Red Raiders are set for just their second meeting all-time, and second within the NCAA Tournament.
Carolina last met Texas Tech in the third round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament in Lubbock, Texas. The Tar Heels topped the Red Raiders 1-0 to advance to the Quarterfinals.
Texas Tech heads into the NCAA Tournament as a no. 6 seed.
Carolina is 1-0 on the road against the Red Raiders. The programs are set to clash for the first time at a neutral site.

Carolina advanced to the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament after topping no. 3 Tennessee, 3-1, on the road. The win marked the Tar Heels' first ranked win of the season and featured a brace from Kate Faasse.
Olivia Thomas leads the Tar Heels with 13 goals, four game-winning goals, and 81 shots. Thomas was tabbed First Team All-ACC.
Kate Faasse leads the team with four braces, her most recent coming against Tennessee in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The forward is second on the team with 11 goals.
Kate Faasse and Linda Ullmark were named Third Team All-ACC.
Hannah Johann posted a career-high and team-leading seven saves in Carolina's win over Tennessee. The goalkeeper has recorded a team-leading seven wins between the posts.
Bella Devey and Lauren Malsom lead the UNC freshmen class with four goals each.
Hope Munson was tabbed to the All-Freshman ACC Team.

The Tar Heels have played in all 43 NCAA Tournaments, making 42 appearances in the second round.
Carolina is 41-1 across NCAA Second Round matches.
Their lone second round loss came in 2015 against Texas A&M.
The Tar Heels advanced to the 2025 second round after topping no. 3 Tennessee 3-1 in the opening round at Knoxville.
