Fencing Wraps Up Fall Schedule At November NAC

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – The final two days of the November North American Cup saw solid finishes from Tar Heel fencing.
In Division I women's saber, freshman Dagny Johnson delivered the team's top finish of the final days. After entering the second round seeded 49th after pools and earning a first-round BYE, Johnson finished seventh overall, marking a strong continuation of her standout rookie season. Alumna Sophia Kovacs also impressed early, earning the No. 1 seed after pools and a BYE. She bowed out in the table of 64 to finish 33rd overall.
On the men's side, Peter Bruk led UNC's finishers in Division I foil. Bruk was tied for the 8th seed after pools, earning him a BYE (and a table of 128 matchup against teammate Yanni Tsimiklis), and advanced to the table of 16 to finish 11thoverall. Teammate Aiden Song also had a solid pool round, earning him the 47th seed and a BYE going into the second round, where he finished 77th.
Monday had freshman Elizabeth Zigalo and senior Nicole Milewski competing in Division I epee. Zigalo had a solid performance in the pool round, going 4-2 to earn the 45th seed and a first-round BYE. She kept her spot to finish 45thoverall.
The November NAC rounds out fall competition for fencing, where several athletes will look to compete at the 2026 Junior Olympics, hosted by USA Fencing in Kansas City, Mo. from January 9-12.
