Men’s Fencing Sits In Sixth After Day One Of NCAAs

NOTRE DAME, IND - The trio of men's fencers has had a fantastic start to the 2026 Men's Fencing National Championships. Peter Bruk, Elden Wood, and Youssef Shamel all leave the first day of pool competition with at least 10 wins.
The men's team is in sixth place with only three fencers having the second-highest winning percentage of any team entered, with a stellar .711, highlighting how good this group has been.
The incredible season for Shamel continues as the freshman sits in second place in men's epee, as he won twelve of his first 15 bouts of the day.
Bruk opened up his second straight NCAA Championships apperance by winning double-digit bouts in men's foil, as he is tied for seventh.
Senior Wood started slow, but over the course of the final ten bouts of the day, he produced a 9-1 record, and he is sitting in eighth in men's share.
