Streicher Advances To Final LPGA Qualifier, Pro Decision Awaits
October 22, 2025 | Women's Golf
North Carolina senior Megan Streicher, the women's golf program's all-time scoring average leader and a two-time All-ACC honoree, has advanced to the final round of the LPGA's Q (qualifying) series.
The resident of Cape Town, South Africa, tied for eighth in a 192-player field with a 9-under-par 279 in the Qualifying Stage in Venice, Fla.
Streicher can either choose to turn professional and compete in the Final Qualifying Stage on December 4-8 in Mobile, Ala., or return to UNC to compete for the Tar Heels in the spring semester.
Streicher has the lowest stroke average in UNC history at 72.46 strokes per round, and holds the first- and second-lowest single-season scoring averages by a Tar Heel. She made the All-ACC team in 2024 and 2025, became the first Tar Heel to play in the Augusta National Women's Amateur and has represented South Africa in the World Amateur Team Championship.
She has 13 top-10 finishes as a Tar Heel, including fourth in the Folds of Honor Collegiate in September. Streicher was unable to compete for UNC last weekend in the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, where Carolina finished sixth, due to playing in the stage 2 qualifier, but returns to the lineup in the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington.
