Streicher's 67 Leads Women's Golf To ACC Quarterfinals

Megan Streicher's 67 on Friday was the third-lowest round ever by a Tar Heel in an ACC Championship helping the University of North Carolina advance to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Championship at Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington.

Carolina shot 8-under 280 today, its best round ever in an ACC Championship, to edge Clemson by one stroke for the sixth and final spot in match play. The Tar Heels will play No. 3 seed Wake Forest on Saturday at 7:30 a.m.

This is the third straight year Carolina has advanced to match play.

No. 4 seed Duke faces No. 5 NC State in the other quarterfinal. The winners of the morning matches play No. 1 seed Stanford and No. 2 SMU in the semifinals Saturday afternoon.

Streicher (67) and Ing Iadpluem (69) became the first pair of Tar Heels to shoot in the 60s in the same round in an ACC Championship since Meaghan Francella and Ashley Prange in the first round in 2004.

Carolina's 8-under 280 broke UNC's previous best in an ACC Championship, a 2-under 282 in the third round in 2004.

The Tar Heels' 54-hole total of 8-under 856 is also a program best in the ACC Championship, beating the previous mark for fewest strokes by five shots (861 in 2004).

Carolina's 8-under-par finish is the first time UNC has shot below par over 54 holes in the tournament, which began in 1992.

Streicher shot 71-73-67 to tie for eighth place at 5-under 211, the third-best 54-hole total by a Tar Heel in an ACC Championship (Francella shot 7-under 206 in 2004 and Prange fired a 6-under 207 in 2004). The senior from Cape Town, South Africa, posted Carolina's best individual finish in an ACC Championship in seven years.

Ing Iadpluem (70-75-69) carded a 3-under 69 today to tie for 21st place at 2-under 214. Marie Prats-Rigual (70-73-73) tied for 28th at even-par 216, Reagan Southerland (71-73-74) tied for 35th at 2-over 218 and Helen Yeung was 64th at 11-over 227.

Stanford's Paula Martin Sampredo (64-69-69) is the individual ACC champion. She shot 14-under 202, winning the title by three strokes over Duke's Rianna Malixi.
