Women's Golf Wins Chevron Collegiate In Houston

Sophomore Helen Yeung and senior Megan Streicher finished second and fourth, respectively, to lead 16th-ranked North Carolina to the team title Tuesday in the Chevron Collegiate at the Golf Club of Houston.
The win is the Tar Heels' second in three tournaments and the eighth under head coach Aimee Neff. It's Carolina women's golf's second title ever in Texas, the first since the Tar Heels won the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic in Austin in the 1997-98 season.
Carolina shot rounds of 4-under 284, 11-under 277 and 3-under 285 for 18-under 846. That was six shots better than third-ranked Oregon (-12). Baylor was third at 11 under, SMU and Iowa State tied for fourth at 6 under and sixth-ranked Arkansas and TCU shared sixth place at 1 over par.
UNC equaled its fifth-best 54-hole totals for fewest strokes (846) and most strokes below par (-18). Its 277 total in the second round on Monday tied the sixth-best round in program history.
Yeung shot 70-68-71 for 7-under 209 to tie for second, her best collegiate finish. Streicher carded rounds of 71-69-70 for 6-under 210 to tie for fourth, her third top-five finish of the season and ninth as a Tar Heel.
Marie Prats-Rigual (72-69-73) tied for 11th at 2-under 214, Reagan Southerland (73-71-72) tied for 20th at even-par 216 and Ing Iadpluem (71-75-72) tied for 33rd at 2-over 218.
Oregon's Kiara Romero, the fourth-ranked player in the country, was the individual champion (66-70-69, 11under 205).
