CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- University of North Carolina women's soccer (8-4, 2-2 ACC) claimed a 3-1 win over Boston College (4-4-5, 0-3-2 ACC) at Dorrance Field Thursday night. The Tar Heels' victory was backed by a brace from Kate Faasse.

Carolina went after Boston College early, putting pressure on the Eagles' defense. In just the 11^th minute, Bella Devey curled a shot from outside the 18-yard box that rang off the crossbar, marking the first threatening chance of the day.

The game slowed down until the 38^th minute when Hope Munson won a free kick outside of the attacking box. Linda Ullmark lined up to take the free kick and rolled the ball gently to Olivia Thomas who nailed her team-leading 10^th goal of the year.

The Tar Heels locked down the Eagles for the rest of the half and went into the break up 1-0.

UNC opened the second half strong by winning a couple of corner kicks in the first ten minutes, but were unable to find the back of the net.

Boston College equalized in the 68^th minute.

Carolina responded to the adversity and got right back to work on the offensive end. The Tar Heels were rewarded in the 80^th minute when Munson got around her defender and found Kate Faasse who blasted a right-footed shot past the goalkeeper to give UNC a 2-1 lead.

Faasse was at it again minutes later to put the game away. Thomas curled a cross into the 18-yard box from the right side which flew perfectly to Faasse who headed it home to put the Heels up by two.

Carolina held Boston College without a shot for the final seven minutes to secure a 3-1 victory.
