CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- In its lone match of the weekend, the No. 6 North Carolina Tar Heels (3-0) defeated Gardner-Webb (0-1), 7-0.
To begin the day, Reese Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton swiftly gave Carolina the doubles point advantage with a 6-0 victory on court two. A few moments later, on court three, the No. 20 ranked duo of Theadora Rabman and Tatum Evans clinched the doubles point for UNC with their own 6-0 win on court three.Â
In singles play, all six individuals picked up straight-set victories. Reese Brantmeier led the charge with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Lindsay Zink gave UNC its third point with a 6-2, 6-1 win on court five. On court six, Susanna Maltby clinched the match for Carolina after she won 6-1, 6-1.
Despite already clinching the match, freshman Alanis Hamilton, Alana Boyce and Claire Hill each tallied wins on courts two, three and four to cement the sweep for Carolina.
